American Family Insurance was looking to improve their Auto Insurance digital brand to be more interactive while integrating new technologies with the goal of engaging new customers.
The existing online Auto Quote form was static, lengthy and had a high user drop-off rate. This overwhelming form was in need of a better user experience and design that was more interactive and appealing in order for more users to complete the quoting process.
They were also in need of a mobile app that could interest new customers in search of an auto agent using location-based technologies. The mobile app needed to be useful for their existing customers as well – using it to access their accounts, make payments, and file accident claims on site.
We worked with The Material Group, designing the new Auto Quote online tool and My AmFam iPhone app to be robust in information, yet extremely user-friendly. The Auto Quote tool was redesigned to work as a simple step-by-step process. Since the goal was to engage users to complete the entire process, we created an online environment that felt very simple and easy-to-use through the use of fresh and inviting colors, simplistic graphics, large buttons and a progress bar.
The mobile app was designed to be simple and reduced with only the most relevant user actions available including finding and contacting an agent, making claims and payments, and accessing/updating account info.
These new engaging tools helped American Family Insurance reach out to a new audience by extending their brand to utilize new technologies. They were able to tap into a completely different audience through online ads and TV commercials which resulted in converting many new customers.
